How a Vision of Peace Became Northern Ireland’s Most Unique Getaway
ÖÖD at Lough Neagh was created with the dream of offering a place where guests can fully disconnect from the pressures of daily life. It’s a retreat that combines the beauty of a rural farm with modern luxury, inviting guests to breathe deeply and reconnect with themselves and the environment through exploring Lough Neagh’s coasts.
The ÖÖD Mirror Houses reflect the surrounding landscape, creating a seamless bond between architecture and nature. Positioned with the views of Lough Neagh — the UK’s largest freshwater lake — the cabins embody tranquillity and elegance, blending into the environment while offering all the comforts of a high-end escape.
The beautiful setting on the shores of Lough Neagh enhances the guest experience, providing endless, ever-changing views and a profound sense of peace that defines the spirit of the retreat.

A Family Farm Reimagined: The Heartfelt Story Behind ÖÖD Lough Neagh
ÖÖD at Lough Neagh is the creation of Andrew and Chloe, two locals with deep roots in the area. Located on what was once a family-run dairy farm, the retreat blends personal history with forward-thinking design. Today, the land is home to a small herd of miniature Australian Lowline cattle and an immersive natural escape where guests can experience the beauty of the Lough in comfort and privacy.
The idea of mirror houses came from a desire to create a unique, luxurious, and nature-centred experience. The mirrors symbolise reflection — both literally and metaphorically — encouraging guests to pause and find balance away from the chaos of everyday life.
Every Detail in Tune with Nature — Inside the ÖÖD Experience
Every element at ÖÖD at Lough Neagh has been thoughtfully designed to create a relaxing, unique retreat that offers the full package:
- Low-level outdoor lighting to minimise disruption to the night sky.
- Sunken hot tubs are built into private decks to bring guests closer to nature.
- Natural stone landscaping surrounds the cabins to enhance the connection to the land.
- 10-foot-high natural bark privacy walls between cabins for a secluded, intimate experience.
- Gateway to Lough Neagh: Explore the coastal areas of Ireland, just a short drive away
Each mirror house includes a private hot tub, access to a shared sauna and a refreshing outdoor bucket shower. Guests are welcomed with a luxury basket filled with local treats, including fresh bread, crisps, chocolate, butter, jam, milk, orange juice, and water.
The cabins also feature bespoke “floating effect” double beds and cosy underfloor heating to ensure every moment is steeped in comfort.
Stepping onto the private decking area in the early morning, coffee in hand, and watching the Lough reflect off the mirrored walls is an experience that stays with guests long after they leave.

A Deep Connection to the Community
ÖÖD at Lough Neagh has been a community-driven project from the start. All tradesmen involved in building the retreat were local — many friends and family living within a few miles of the site. To celebrate its opening, an evening was hosted for over 60 locals to showcase the project and share in the excitement.
Today, the retreat continues to support the local economy by employing local massage therapists and cleaners, keeping the spirit of community alive and thriving.
Where Lake Meets Sky: The Setting That Soothes the Soul
The location of ÖÖD at Lough Neagh is truly special. Situated on the coast of Lough Neagh, the retreat offers panoramic views of the lake and the natural world that surrounds it. Guests are welcomed by the fresh country air, the gentle lake wind gusts, the chorus of birdsong, and the occasional lowing of the miniature cows in the nearby fields.
This deep connection to nature follows guests from the moment they arrive, helping them to shed the stresses of modern life and embrace a slower, more mindful pace.
