Learn how Katie and Zach built one of the most sought-after and distinctive Airbnb properties in the US with ÖÖD.

Katie and Zach, a couple from Vermont, first encountered ÖÖD House several years before they embarked on their journey, when Katie saw on Instagram ÖÖD mirror house in Iceland which amazed them with its minimalist design that can blend in anywhere. The idea to venture into the rental business began to take shape during the COVID-19 pandemic when they had a lot of free time and were looking for a project to generate passive income to work remotely and travel.

The turning point was when they stumbled upon a piece of land for sale on the slopes of Green Mountain. From the hillside opened a breathtaking view overlooking the Sugarbush mountains and Blueberry Lake. Kathie and Zach envisioned how the mountains and sunsets would reflect off the ÖÖD Mirror House’s mirrored wall, and they imagined the breathtaking views one could enjoy right from the bed. This location proved to be the perfect setting for a short-term rental business.

The land presented a natural challenge due to its steep incline, making it difficult to construct traditional cabins or install modular homes. However, ÖÖD Signature Mirror House, designed to be adaptable to various terrains and climates, provided the right solution to this obstacle. ÖÖD shipped the mirror house to Vermont from Estonia by a container ship, during the way there occurred supply chain bottlenecks that were caused due to the COVID-19 crisis but eventually it got delivered to the site in Vermont.
